The kids helped us clear the rest of the block paving this weekend, earning 5p for every brick they picked up and put into the wheelbarrow or onto the pile.
Nicole moved more than 200 bricks, while Aline and Olivier shifted around 100 each!
We decided not to reuse the sandstone blocks, so we offered them for free collection on Facebook Marketplace. There were about 1,100 altogether, and they were all gone within a few days.
Underneath the paving was a four-centimetre layer of sand, which we wanted to remove before work began on the foundations.
