We’ve moved about two-thirds of the hardcore into the floor area. The rest will have to wait until the footings are in place.
We’re still waiting for the structural engineer to provide connection details for some additional steel supports intended to increase the walls’ lateral stability. At this stage, we expect them to be bolted to the foundations and connected to the wall plate at the top, sitting within the cavity and tied to both the inner and outer leaves.
In the meantime, I’ve been moving more of the big pile of soil and checking measurements and levels ready for the next stage. I’m also trying to find a decent cement mixer.
We have a new fence between our garden and the neighbours’ garden too. Our next-door neighbour kindly offered to put it up while he was off work over half term.
