Today was concrete day. When I called earlier in the week to book the delivery, there wasn’t a concrete pump available for another two weeks. There was, however, an early morning delivery slot at 7.30am today.

We didn’t have a pump, but we did have great friends and family willing to help. A team of volunteers came over to move the concrete by wheelbarrow.

With 11 men, six wheelbarrows, three rakes, a homemade tamping contraption, a laser level and a laser detector on a stick, we got to work pouring the slab.

It took a little over an hour to move five cubic metres of concrete, followed by more time tamping it down and getting the floor reasonably flat and level.

Now we have to wait for it to dry. A big thank you to everyone who helped—we couldn’t have done it without you.
